Home Meet Instructions
Please review the swim meet survival guide on our website (https://tigersharks.swimtopia.com) - click Resources, then Team Handbook - the survival guide is near the top of the page. Some highlights:
TIME: Please arrive at the pool by 7:00 - warm ups will begin at 7:30 - and the swim meet will start promptly at 9:00. The meet will likely go to 12:00 or 12:30. Swimmers are encouraged to stay for the entire meet. If this is not possible, then ALWAYS check out with the HEAD COACH before leaving to make sure you aren't swimming due to last minute changes.
MEET SHEETS: The preliminary meet sheets are on our home page. You may access it electronically during the meet, or print a copy and bring it to meet if you wish - copies will NOT be available at the pool, except for specific volunteer roles. The event summary lists only TigerSharks, by last name, and the events they are scheduled to swim in (and will be posted later tonight). The meet program is the "heat sheet" that lists all swimmers, events, heats, and lane assignments. Please note, heats and lanes may change based on last minute adjustments.
ATTIRE: Team swim suits and caps are mandatory for all swimmers. If you need a cap, we will have them for sale prior to the start of the meet for $10, online by credit card only. All parents - please wear a tiger sharks shirt if you have them!
SUNSCREEN & TATTOOS: Please do not put sunscreen on before the bull pen (or parents) "tattoos" your name and heat numbers. Please use sunscreen AFTER you are tattooed, the shade will be in high demand!
PARKING: All residents should plan to park on Fairfield Bend, outside the main circle or on Brighton Oaks. The circle will be reserved for the visiting team. All other areas will be marked as NO PARKING. If you are near the pool, please consider walking - parking, like shade, will be in short supply. Please check the website for a parking map.
SWIMMER SEATING: All Tiger Shark swimmers should be in the waiting area under the canopies inside the pool area during the meet. We will have a separate bull pen canopy setup where swimmers who are racing in the next 5 heats will sit before being moved to the ready bench prior to their race. Parents, PLEASE ensure your swimmers are in the waiting area, prior to their races. With limited time between heats, our bull pen and ready bench volunteers will not be able to track swimmers down outside the pool area. PLEASE make sure your swimmers are in the waiting area so they don't miss their race. See the pool map on the website, and attached to this message.
VIEWING: Only volunteers, officials, and swimmers are allowed in the pool area. Parents are welcome in the pool area during your swimmer(s) races ONLY. It will be very crowded with nearly 150 swimmers and 50 volunteers, so please enter the pool area only during your swimmer(s) races. The starter side of the pool, far side from the play set, is reserved for Tiger Sharks. The side closest to the play set is reserved for the visiting team. Please bring chairs, canopies, and whatever else to make yourself comfortable during the meet. Refer to the pool map on the website, and attached to this message.
BABY POOL: No one will be allowed in the baby pool. Parents, help us keep the swimmers and little ones away.
CONCESSIONS: We will be operating a snack shack near the clubhouse, and there will be lots of tasty treats (healthy and less than healthy) available. The snack shack operates on cash only - and no tabs or IOUs will be allowed - thanks for your understanding.
TIMERS: There will be a mandatory timer briefing prior to the meet start - please see head timer [TBD] for more information. Additionally, there will be a mandatory meeting with the referee from 8:30 - 8:45 poolside. These are for all timers from both 1st and 2nd shift.
STROKE & TURN JUDGES: There will be a mandatory meeting with the referee from 8:30 - 8:45 poolside for all judges, both 1st and 2nd shift.
VOLUNTEERS: Volunteer shift change typically happens after event 34, right before the IMs start - there will be no break; please do an in-place swap with the first half volunteer. Second Shift: please ensure that you are in place by event 35. Stay hydrated with mini waters, available in two coolers at either end of the pool - these are for volunteers only, during their shift.
Swim Hard, Good Luck, And Have Fun Tiger Sharks!
See you at the pool!
